Do I need a lawyer?
Although lawyers may provide legal advice, they can be expensive, and other people can give you advice as well. You can also get legal advice from accountants, if it is in their field. Accountants can usually give you advice on your company, if you have one, or tell you about tax law.
There are many advice centres which might not charge you, for example:
- Citizens' Advice Bureaux
- Housing advice centres
- Money advice centres
- Law centres
Most people do know many people who are lawyers or have some experience with law, so if you can't afford a lawyer we recommend that you find someone who will not charge you, and use them, friends, family and anyone who has a background in law.
